VNM Direct Drive Xtreme - questions and answers
1. What is the VNM Direct Drive Xtreme?
It is a Direct Drive wheelbase for PC sim racing. The motor drives the shaft without a belt or gear transmission and produces up to 32 Nm. This model is intended for drivers building a rigid, advanced simulator cockpit.
2. Do I have to use the full 32 Nm in every race?
No. The maximum torque is available as headroom and strength can be reduced in the settings. Many drivers use a lower regular level while retaining space for short impacts and stronger effects without flattening the signal.
3. Which platform supports the VNM Xtreme?
The wheelbase is designed for Windows PC use. Before ordering, check the requirements of the racing title you intend to use and whether it provides a ready-made profile or needs manual control mapping.
4. How precise is the wheelbase encoder?
VNM uses a 23-bit absolute encoder capable of distinguishing 8,388,608 positions in one complete revolution. The high resolution supports smooth tracking of small steering movements.
5. Can I change the character of the Force Feedback?
Yes. The software offers strength adjustment for eleven game effects and four user-defined effects. Damping, inertia and friction can also be tuned, allowing one profile to feel quick and light while another is calmer and heavier.
6. Which games support Telemetry Force Feedback?
VNM lists iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, rFactor 2 and Le Mans Ultimate. The feature is experimental, so supported functions and the setup procedure may change in later software versions.
7. How does the VNM Xtreme mount to a cockpit?
The base uses four threaded M8 mounting points. Because it can produce 32 Nm, it should be fitted to a rigid wheel deck or a suitable aluminium-profile mount. Compare the hole spacing with your cockpit documentation before installation.
8. Does the package include a wheel and complete Quick Release?
No. The package includes the wheelbase and the base-side Quick Release section. A steering wheel and the corresponding wheel-side section must be selected separately. An E-stop button, power supply and two USB cables are also included.
9. Is the VNM Apex-R compatible with the Xtreme wheelbase?
Yes. The VNM Apex-R belongs to the VNM ecosystem and is a natural match for the wheelbase. Remember to include the appropriate wheel-side Quick Release when completing the setup.
10. What does the VNM Slipring do?
The VNM Slipring carries the signal through the rotating connection and keeps a loose cable from wrapping around the shaft. It works best with wheels that do not depend on a demanding USB display. Some VoCore screens may disconnect occasionally.
