A wheel developed for the BMW race car and the simulator
Podium BMW M4 GT3 was developed with BMW M Motorsport for both the 2022 BMW M4 GT3 race car and sim racing. It is not just a visual replica. Fanatec confirms GT3 racing homologation and CAN bus communication with that car.
The wheel measures 308 mm in diameter, with rubber grips moulded onto its carbon structure. Its body uses eight layers of carbon fibre and an anti-reflective coating. Weight is approximately 1700 g including the quick release.
Buttons, rotaries and a display within reach
There are 12 front buttons, two rear buttons, two grip-mounted encoders and three 12-position switches. A four-way D-pad sits beneath the BMW logo. The front buttons feature RGB lighting and interchangeable inserts, so their labels can match the functions you assign.
The 1-inch OLED can show information such as gear or speed when supported by the game. It also provides access to the Tuning Menu. On PC, FanaLab configures lighting, including supported RPM and tyre-slip indications through the button LEDs. Effects depend on the game and configuration.
One-handed shifting and two analogue clutch paddles
The magnetic shift paddles work in both directions: pull or push. This lets you shift up and down with one hand, or use the two mechanisms as four separate inputs. The carbon-fibre paddle positions can be adjusted.
Below them sit two analogue clutch paddles with Hall sensors and adjustable travel. Set a clutch bite point, assign clutch and handbrake, or use the paddles as throttle and brake. Mechanical adjustment requires your own 2.5 mm Allen key.
QR2 Pro included, with a separate update cable
The pre-installed QR2 Pro Wheel-Side is CNC-machined from aluminium. To use this supplied configuration, you need a compatible Fanatec base with QR2 Base-Side. A legacy base appearing on the electronics compatibility list does not mean its QR1 shaft fits QR2.
During driving, the wheel connects through the base. The supplied USB cable is for firmware updates and does not replace a base. Wheel firmware cannot be updated through the base. PC is supported, PlayStation needs a licensed base, and Xbox is not compatible.

2022 BMW M4 GT3 CAR NOT INCLUDED! ;)
1. Is Fanatec Podium BMW M4 GT3 a replica race wheel?
It is not just a replica. Fanatec developed this design with BMW M Motorsport for both the 2022 BMW M4 GT3 race car and sim racing.
2. Which quick release is included?
QR2 Pro Wheel-Side is pre-installed. It requires a compatible Fanatec base with the appropriate QR2 Base-Side. The base-side component is not included.
3. How do the push/pull shifters work?
Each magnetic paddle can be pulled or pushed. Assign upshifts and downshifts to one hand, or use four separate inputs in total where the game supports them.
4. Are the clutch paddles analogue?
Yes. They use Hall sensors, have adjustable travel and support a clutch bite-point setting. Other modes provide clutch and handbrake, throttle and brake, or separately mappable analogue axes.
5. How many buttons and rotaries does the wheel have?
There are 14 buttons: 12 front-facing and 2 rear-facing. It also has two grip-mounted encoders, three 12-position switches and a four-way D-pad beneath the BMW logo.
6. What does the OLED display show?
It can show gear and speed, among other information, with Fanatec SDK support. It also accesses the Tuning Menu, whose available settings depend on the base and connected hardware.
7. Can the RGB lighting be customised?
Yes. Configure front-button colour and brightness in FanaLab on PC. Supported effects can use the LEDs for RPM or tyre-slip indication. Do not assume identical customisation on consoles.
8. How do I update BMW M4 GT3 wheel firmware?
Use the supplied QR2 USB Update Cable and a Windows PC, following Fanatec's instructions. This wheel cannot update its firmware through the base. Disconnect the update cable from the PC and quick release once the update is complete.
9. Does it fit an older base with QR1?
The supplied QR2 Pro does not physically fit a QR1 shaft. Bases that support conversion can use QR2 Base-Side. Legacy ClubSport V2/V2.5 and CSL Elite bases do not support QR2, so using this wheel on them requires a separate compatible QR1 Wheel-Side.
10. What are the wheel's diameter and weight?
Diameter is 308 mm. Fanatec quotes approximately 1700 g including the quick release. This is not shipping weight or the weight of a wheel-and-base bundle.
11. How long is the warranty on Fanatec products?
Simline.eu is the largest authorised Fanatec partner in Poland and Europe. Fanatec products receive full warranty protection for up to 5 years within the European Union, in accordance with Fanatec warranty terms. The period depends on the product. The current manufacturer warranty for a new Podium Steering Wheel BMW M4 GT3 is 3 years.

No. This model is not Xbox-compatible. Connecting it to a Fanatec base that supports other Xbox wheels does not change that limitation.
15. Does Fanatec Podium BMW M4 GT3 work with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5?
Yes, through a compatible, officially PlayStation-licensed Fanatec base with a matching quick release. The base contains the console-compatibility electronics. Available buttons, axes and telemetry also depend on the game and platform.
16. Is Fanatec Podium BMW M4 GT3 compatible with PC?
Yes, with a Windows PC through a compatible Fanatec base. The supplied USB cable is for firmware updates, not standalone use with any wheel base. Telemetry functions require appropriate game and software support.
