Fanatec Steering Wheels

This subcategory contains complete steering wheels designed for compatible Fanatec wheel bases. Each model combines a rim or enclosed body with electronics, buttons, shifting paddles and a suitable quick release. The wheel base is not part of the product unless a specific package description clearly states otherwise.

The choice involves more than appearance. Diameter and shape affect hand speed, cockpit clearance and how the wheel suits a particular car. Grip material, available inputs, display type, platform support and the permitted wheel-base torque also matter.

A complete steering wheel, not a bare rim

Products in this category contain their own electronics and connect directly to a compatible Fanatec wheel base. Buttons, encoders, the FunkySwitch, displays, LEDs and paddles are recognised through the base and supported game. The exact feature set depends on the platform, driver and implementation in each title.

A steering wheel cannot operate on its own and does not replace a Force Feedback wheel base. Before ordering, check compatibility with the base, the quick-release generation and any torque limit created by the wheel construction or selected QR.

Round wheels for road cars, rally and drifting

The Fanatec CSL P1 V2 has a round 300 mm rim, rubberised grip, metal paddles, a RevStripe and a three-digit LED display. Its low weight and universal shape suit a first setup and wheel bases operating at moderate torque.

The Fanatec CSL Elite WRC also uses a round 300 mm rim but is designed with rally driving and quick countersteering in mind. The full circular shape lets the driver move both hands freely at large steering angles.

The Fanatec CSL BMW provides a 300 mm diameter, rubberised grip, front controls and metal paddles. It is another versatile design for road cars, GT racing and rally, intended for wheel bases using QR2.

ClubSport RS and Porsche Vision GT

The Fanatec ClubSport RS QR2 has a full round rim with a 320 mm diameter. Its leather grip, magnetic paddles, RevLED strip and three-digit display suit road cars, GT racing, rally and drifting. The metal QR2 Wheel-Side does not introduce the common Lite torque restriction.

The Fanatec CSL Elite Porsche Vision GT recreates the wheel from the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo concept. It combines a 310 mm diameter, aluminium structure, Tactaris grips, OLED display, magnetic paddles and multiple encoders. Fanatec permits High Torque Mode on specified stronger wheel bases despite the factory-fitted QR2 Lite.

GT and Formula steering wheels

The Fanatec CSL GT3 uses an enclosed shape inspired by GT3 race cars and measures 300 mm across. Magnetic shifter paddles are joined by two analogue paddles that can operate the clutch, handbrake, throttle and brake, or two assignable analogue axes. Xbox compatibility electronics are built into the wheel.

The Fanatec ClubSport Formula V2.5 X QR2 uses a compact 270 mm geometry. Its OLED display, RevLED and FlagLED arrays, buttons and encoders provide quick control in Formula cars and prototypes. The X version includes Xbox compatibility electronics.

A Formula or GT wheel normally provides faster access to many vehicle functions, but it is less suitable for rally and drifting where the hands often move around the complete rim. A full round wheel is more practical for those driving styles.

QR2 Lite, QR2 and wheel-base compatibility

The QR2 system consists of a Wheel-Side component on the steering wheel and a Base-Side component on the wheel base. Both ends must use the same generation. A QR2 wheel cannot connect directly to a QR1 base without replacing the relevant component.

CSL models commonly use the composite QR2 Lite Wheel-Side, while ClubSport wheels may include the metal QR2 Wheel-Side. QR2 Lite can limit available torque to 8 Nm, although some newer wheel designs have specific exceptions confirmed by Fanatec. Check the individual product page instead of assuming one limit for the entire series.

PC, PlayStation and Xbox

On PC, a compatible wheel works through a suitable Fanatec wheel base and a supported game. Telemetry, LEDs, displays and additional analogue inputs may behave differently between titles.

PlayStation compatibility is located in the wheel base. A wheel without its own PlayStation licence can therefore work on PS5 or PS4 when attached to a compatible base such as Gran Turismo DD Pro or ClubSport DD+. Available functions still depend on the game.

For Xbox, the required compatibility electronics are located in the steering wheel. Models identified as Xbox compatible can enable console support when connected to a suitable Fanatec wheel base. Not every wheel contains this hardware, so platform labels must be checked before purchase.

How should you choose a wheel?

A full round rim is the practical choice for rally, drifting and road cars. GT driving can benefit from an enclosed design with extra analogue paddles, while Formula cars and prototypes suit a compact wheel with many controls placed close to the grips.

Before ordering, check the diameter, grip material, QR2 type, torque limit, platform compatibility and the functions supported by your games. Current product and mounting information is also available in the steering wheel category on the official Fanatec website.
