Its lightweight magnesium-aluminium alloy construction, leather grips, 7 RGB buttons, two adjustable Hall-sensor shift paddles and the included QR50 create a compact, practical setup. It works with Simagic Alpha and Alpha EVO wheelbases.
Simagic GTS Leather – a versatile 300 mm round steering wheel
Simagic GTS Leather is a complete 300 mm racing wheel designed for drivers who regularly switch between different types of cars. Its full round rim feels at home in GT, touring, rally, road and classic vehicles, while the compact diameter keeps steering inputs quick and precise.
The wheel is built around a cast magnesium-aluminium alloy structure. This keeps the assembly rigid without making it unnecessarily heavy. At approximately 1.45 kg, the GTS allows a Direct Drive wheelbase to deliver both sharp impacts and smaller changes in tyre grip without excessive inertia getting in the way.
This version uses leather-covered grips, making it a practical option for regular driving without gloves. The surface is comfortable to hold, straightforward to clean and suitable for a cockpit used across several simulators rather than one specific racing category.

A full round 300 mm rim
The GTS uses a traditional circular shape without a flat lower section or an open top. The same rim profile remains available at every steering angle, so the driver can move their hands freely when more steering lock is required.
This is useful in rally cars, road vehicles and older racing cars where the wheel may rotate through a much wider range than it would in a modern Formula car. When the rim returns towards the centre, the driver does not encounter a gap or a flattened section.
At 300 mm, the GTS is smaller than many dedicated rally or drift wheels, which often measure between 330 and 350 mm. The more compact size makes the wheel responsive and easier to fit into a smaller cockpit, while still leaving enough room for hand-over-hand steering.
A size that works across several car classes
The GTS is not tied to one type of vehicle. Its round shape suits rally and road cars, while the 300 mm diameter remains quick enough for GT and touring-car racing.
This makes it a useful choice for a setup where the same steering wheel stays on the base while the driver changes between different cars and simulators.
Cast magnesium-aluminium alloy construction
The main frame is made from a cast magnesium-aluminium alloy. The material provides the stiffness needed for Direct Drive use without relying on a much heavier steel structure.
During driving, the rim is exposed to repeated changes in direction and strong force-feedback loads. A rigid frame limits flex between the hub and the grips, so the steering response feels more direct.
Lower rotating mass also helps the wheelbase react more freely. Quick changes in direction remain sharp, and smaller feedback details are less likely to be softened by the weight of the steering wheel.
This can be noticeable even on lower-torque wheelbases, where a lighter wheel helps preserve detail without requiring an overly aggressive force-feedback setting.
Leather grips for everyday use
The grip sections are finished in leather and shaped to support a natural hand position around the 3 and 9 o’clock areas. The surface works well without gloves and does not require the same maintenance routine as suede-style materials.
After driving, the grips can be wiped gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Strong cleaning products and excessive moisture should be avoided.
The rim is shaped enough to provide a secure hold but does not lock the hands into one position. It remains easy to move around the wheel during rally countersteering or low-speed manoeuvres in road cars.
Stitching designed for long sessions
The stitching is positioned to avoid creating a hard edge beneath the fingers. During longer races, the hands rest mainly on the leather surface rather than on a raised seam.
This small detail becomes more noticeable when the same hand position is held for many laps at a time.
Controls placed within easy reach
The front panel combines buttons, rotary encoders and two multi-function switches. Their different shapes make them easier to identify by touch once the layout becomes familiar.
Frequently used functions can remain on the wheel instead of being moved to a keyboard or a separate button box.
Seven programmable RGB buttons
The seven main buttons can be assigned to functions such as the pit limiter, radio, headlights, wipers, ignition, camera control or vehicle reset. The exact layout can be adapted to each simulator and car.
RGB lighting allows the controls to be separated by colour. Lighting functions can be marked in white, communication controls in blue and service-related commands in red.
The included button-label set contains 128 different markings, allowing the front panel to match the driver’s own control layout.
Two push-button rotary encoders
Two rotary encoders are available for settings that are adjusted in steps. They can be used for brake balance, traction control, ABS, engine maps, audio volume or other supported parameters.
Each encoder can also be pressed like a button. Rotation can change a value, while pressing the control may confirm a selection, reset an adjustment or trigger another assigned function.
Two seven-way multi-function switches
Each seven-way switch combines directional input, rotation and a push function. One physical control can therefore replace several separate buttons.
They are useful for navigating a black box, changing dashboard pages, adjusting vehicle settings or moving through game menus.
One switch can be reserved for interface navigation while the second handles car setup, leaving the RGB buttons available for commands used during driving.
Nine programmable RGB rev LEDs
A strip of nine RGB LEDs runs across the upper part of the wheel. Their main purpose is to show rising engine speed and the preferred point for changing gear.
Colours and behaviour can be configured through SimPro Manager. The available effects depend on the simulator and the telemetry data it provides.
The LEDs sit close to the driver’s normal line of sight, making the shift indication visible without repeatedly checking the car’s dashboard.
Adjustable shift paddles with Hall sensors
Two shift paddles are mounted behind the rim. They use Hall sensors rather than a conventional mechanical contact, helping to maintain a consistent activation point.
The paddle position can be adjusted telescopically, and the distance from the rim can also be changed. This makes it easier to adapt the wheel to different hand sizes and grip preferences.
The left paddle is normally used for downshifts and the right paddle for upshifts. In cars that use a separate shifter, the paddles may be assigned to other supported controls.
Simagic QR50 Quick Release included
Simagic GTS Leather is supplied with the QR50 Quick Release, so no additional wheel-side connector is needed when installing it on a compatible Simagic wheelbase.
The mechanism allows the wheel to be removed without undoing mounting screws. A GT or Formula wheel can be fitted for another session, and the GTS can be installed again when a round rim is required.
The steering wheel works with Simagic Direct Drive wheelbases, including:
- Simagic Alpha Mini
- Simagic Alpha
- Simagic Alpha U
- Simagic Alpha EVO Sport
- Simagic Alpha EVO
- Simagic Alpha EVO Pro
- Simagic Alpha EVO Ultra
Configuration through SimPro Manager
SimPro Manager is used to assign functions to the buttons, encoders and switches, as well as configure the RGB lighting. Separate profiles can be prepared for different simulators or vehicle types.
A rally profile may use the buttons for headlights, wipers and vehicle reset. In a GT car, the same controls can operate the pit limiter, radio, brake balance and traction control.
Before the first session, it is worth checking for firmware and software updates. Current versions help the wheel and wheelbase recognise each other correctly and maintain compatibility with newer Simagic hardware.
Where the Simagic GTS Leather fits best
The GTS is a strong option for a cockpit used with several different car classes. Its round rim works well in rally and road cars, while the compact diameter remains suitable for GT and touring-car racing.
For dedicated drifting, a larger 330 or 350 mm wheel will provide more room during wide countersteering movements. For Formula cars, an open wheel will usually feel more natural. The GTS sits between these two extremes and does not force the driver into one discipline.
The leather finish is particularly practical in a frequently used setup. It is comfortable without gloves, simple to maintain and visually suitable for both modern and classic cars.
Simagic GTS Leather compared with other steering wheels
GTS Leather and GTS Alcantara
Both versions use the same basic structure, diameter and control layout. The main difference is the material used on the grips.
The leather version is easier to maintain and works well for driving without gloves. The Alcantara version provides a softer, suede-like surface and will usually appeal more to drivers who prefer to use racing gloves.
GTS Leather and GT1-SR
The GT1-SR uses a larger 330 mm rim and a simpler control layout. It is closer to a traditional wheel for rally, drifting and road cars.
The GTS is smaller, lighter and provides more programmable controls. It responds more quickly to short steering inputs and takes up less space in the cockpit.
GTS Leather and GTC
The GTC is more strongly focused on circuit racing and GT cars. Its shape suits driving where both hands remain in roughly the same position for most of the lap.
The round GTS leaves more freedom for changing hand position and is the more flexible choice when several car classes are used regularly.
