Simagic NEO X-310G – compact 310 mm steering wheel for GT racing
Simagic NEO X-310G combines the modular NEO X control hub with a rim designed mainly for GT, touring and modern circuit cars. Its 310 mm diameter gives the hands more room than a small Formula wheel, while remaining quick enough for chicanes, fast corrections and sudden changes of direction.
The D-shaped rim uses a one-piece frame machined from aluminium. Black synthetic leather covers the grips, while orange stitching adds the familiar Simagic detail without making the wheel look overly decorative.
NEO X-310G is supplied as a complete steering wheel rather than a hub-only product. The package includes the NEO X control hub, the 310 mm rim, two shift paddles and the QR50 Quick Release. The main components needed for installation on a compatible Simagic wheelbase are therefore already included.

A size developed around GT cars
The 310 mm diameter strikes a useful balance between steering speed and hand position. It is wider than compact 280 or 290 mm Formula wheels, so the driver’s arms are not pulled too closely together during a long stint.
At the same time, the NEO X-310G remains noticeably smaller than a traditional 330 or 350 mm rim. The wheelbase does not need to move a large wheel through every correction, and the driver can react quickly when the car steps out or changes direction through a narrow section of the circuit.
This format suits GT3, GT4, touring cars, V8 Supercars, prototypes and endurance machinery. In these cars, both hands usually remain close to the nine and three o’clock positions, and the wheel does not need to rotate freely through the fingers.
D-shaped rim in a compact cockpit
The flat lower section creates more clearance above the driver’s legs. This can make a noticeable difference in low seating positions or compact cockpits where the knees sit close to the bottom of the wheel.
The upper part of the rim remains closed, so the NEO X-310G keeps a more familiar outline than an open Formula-style wheel. The driver still has a clear reference point at the top of the rim while gaining extra space when entering or leaving the cockpit.
The shape is not primarily intended for drifting. During a fast countersteer, the flattened section may reach the hands in an unexpected position. A fully round rim is usually a better match for that type of driving.
CNC aluminium frame and synthetic leather finish
The rim frame is machined from aluminium as a single piece. It is not simply a thin decorative panel attached to a softer structure. The aluminium transfers forces between the grips, hub and Quick Release, keeping the wheel composed when the Direct Drive base produces stronger loads.
Synthetic leather is practical for a cockpit used regularly. It works well with bare hands, and after a longer session it can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
Compared with Alcantara, the surface is less sensitive to moisture from the hands and does not require the same level of care. It lacks some of the dry, motorsport-style texture of Alcantara, but it is easier to maintain and suits shared cockpits particularly well.
Orange contrast stitching
The orange stitching running around the rim separates the 310G from the more understated NEO X variants. Its colour matches the lighting and visual details used across many Simagic products.
The stitching has no effect on the wheel’s mechanical performance, although it does make the edge of the grip easier to see in a darker room and gives the rim a more distinctive finish.
NEO X hub with a clear control layout
The centre section uses a carbon-fibre reinforced composite structure. This is separate from the aluminium rim frame and keeps the area around the buttons, encoders and mounting points rigid without relying on a heavy metal housing.
The controls are divided between the left and right sides of the hub. Most remain within thumb reach, allowing the driver to make adjustments without fully releasing the rim.
Although the hub offers plenty of inputs, the front panel does not feel like a tightly packed keyboard. Buttons, switches and rotary controls occupy clearly separated areas, making them easier to identify by touch after a few sessions.
Eight programmable RGB buttons
The eight main buttons can be assigned to the functions used most often during a race. In a GT car, typical choices include the pit limiter, radio, headlights, wipers, ignition, camera changes and confirmation commands.
RGB lighting helps divide the controls into groups. Pit-lane functions may use one colour, communication another and vehicle controls a third.
Colour coding is also useful in a dark cockpit. Once the layout is familiar, a brief glance is usually enough to locate the correct control without having to read the label.
Short travel with a defined press
The buttons use a short movement but still provide a noticeable activation point. Commands register quickly, while accidental contact during a steering correction is less likely to trigger an unwanted function.
A selection of button stickers is included, allowing the front panel to match the driver’s own control scheme rather than a fixed factory layout.
Rotary controls for vehicle settings
Two illuminated 12-position encoders
Two large rotary controls sit on the face of the hub. Each provides 12 selectable positions, making them suitable for settings where a clear level or step matters.
Traction control, ABS, engine maps, differential settings and other supported vehicle parameters can be assigned to them. Their lighting gives an additional visual reference for the selected position.
Two thumb encoders
The smaller encoders sit closer to the outer edges of the hub. They can be operated with the thumbs without moving the entire hand towards the centre of the wheel.
This position works well for brake balance, traction control or ABS changes. A small adjustment can be made before the next corner without reaching for a keyboard or losing a stable grip.
Two seven-way multi-position switches
Each multi-position switch combines directional movement, rotation and a push action. A single control can therefore replace several ordinary buttons used for menu navigation.
One switch can handle the black box, strategy pages or vehicle settings. The second may be used for dashboard pages, menu navigation or camera controls.
Keeping these functions on the multi-position switches leaves the RGB buttons available for commands that require an immediate response.
Nine programmable rev and status LEDs
A strip of nine RGB LEDs sits across the top of the hub. The most obvious use is displaying rising engine speed and the shift point.
The LEDs may also show other supported telemetry events. Their exact behaviour depends on the simulator, selected profile and software configuration.
The strip remains visible above the 310G rim. Changes in colour can be picked up in peripheral vision, reducing the need for an additional shift-light display above the wheelbase.
Two adjustable shift paddles
NEO X-310G includes two paddles mounted behind the hub. The left paddle is normally used for downshifts, while the right handles upshifts.
The modular UP+ design allows the paddle reach to be adjusted to suit the rim and the driver’s hand size. The package includes the hardware needed for basic positioning changes.
A standard two-paddle layout is enough for GT, touring and prototype cars using sequential transmissions. Drivers who need hand-operated clutch control can expand the wheel with another compatible NEO X UP+ module.
Compatibility with Simagic wheelbases
Simagic NEO X-310G includes the QR50 Quick Release and works with wheelbases from the Alpha and Alpha EVO families:
- Simagic Alpha Mini
- Simagic Alpha
- Simagic Alpha U
- Simagic Alpha EVO Sport
- Simagic Alpha EVO
- Simagic Alpha EVO Pro
- Simagic Alpha EVO Ultra
The QR50 allows the wheel to be removed without undoing mounting bolts. A larger round rim can be fitted for rally or drifting, and the 310G can be installed again when returning to GT racing.
Before the first session, it is worth installing the latest available version of SimPro Manager and checking for wheel and wheelbase firmware updates. Current software helps ensure that the lighting, buttons, encoders and paddles are detected correctly.
Simagic wireless communication
When used with a compatible Simagic wheelbase, the steering wheel can communicate through the brand’s wireless system. Button, encoder and paddle inputs are transferred without running a data cable from the rotating wheel to the computer.
The exact setup process depends on the wheelbase and software version. Initial pairing and device configuration are handled through the options available in SimPro Manager.
Use with third-party wheelbases
The NEO X-310G can also be connected to selected wheelbases from other manufacturers through Simagic MagLink.
MagLink creates a wired connection between the wheel and the computer. The hub electronics no longer need to communicate through a Simagic wheelbase.
Mechanical installation must still be considered separately. Depending on the system being used, a suitable adapter or wheel-side Quick Release may be required.
MagLink also opens access to supported SimHub features, including lighting and telemetry configuration. Mounting, data communication and power should all be checked before ordering parts for a mixed-brand setup.
Pedals for an NEO X-310G setup
The steering wheel can be used with pedals from any manufacturer. Keeping the main controls within the Simagic ecosystem can still make setup and later expansion more straightforward.
- Simagic P500 – an accessible Load Cell set for drivers moving beyond basic pedals
- Simagic P700 – adjustable Load Cell pedals with room for later upgrades
- Simagic P1000 – a modular pedal platform supporting hydraulic and haptic accessories
- Simagic P2000 – hydraulic pedals intended for more advanced cockpits
Other NEO X steering wheel variants
The 310G is the most compact GT-focused wheel in the range. Larger NEO X rims are available for drivers who prefer more leverage or a more traditional steering-wheel shape.
- Simagic NEO X-330T – a more versatile 330 mm wheel with synthetic leather and orange stitching
- Simagic NEO X-330R – a full round 330 mm wheel with a more traditional character
- Simagic NEO X-350W – a large 350 mm rim developed mainly for drifting and larger steering angles
NEO X-310G and NEO X-330T
Both versions use black synthetic leather, orange stitching and a one-piece CNC aluminium rim frame. Their main differences are size and shape.
The 310G feels more compact and reacts faster in GT cars. The 330T provides more leverage and a more conventional hand position, which may suit drivers who switch between several types of vehicle.
NEO X-310G and round rims
The 330R and 350W variants are more comfortable when larger steering movements are required. A complete round rim can move through the hands without a flat section arriving unexpectedly.
The NEO X-310G is more focused on circuit driving, where both hands stay on the grips through most of the lap.
Best use of the Simagic NEO X-310G
The wheel feels most natural in GT3, GT4, touring cars, V8 Supercars, prototypes and endurance racing. Its compact rim changes direction quickly without placing the hands as close together as a narrow Formula design.
NEO X-310G also suits drivers who need several encoders and menu controls but do not want a large display built into the wheel.
For rally and drifting, a complete 330 or 350 mm round rim will usually feel more natural. The shape of the 310G is intended mainly for cars where the driver’s hands remain in a stable position.
