VNM Quick Release Wheel Side is the part of the quick release fitted to the steering wheel. The CNC aluminium adapter uses a 6 x 70 mm bolt pattern and connects the wheel to VNM Quick Release Base Side. Its tool-free release makes wheel changes easier, while fitting one Wheel Side to each rim is useful with a VNM Direct Drive wheelbase and multiple wheels.

The quick-release component fitted to the steering wheel

VNM Quick Release Wheel Side attaches to the rear of a compatible steering wheel. It remains on the wheel and connects to VNM Quick Release Base Side installed on the wheelbase shaft. The Wheel Side alone is not a complete quick release, so check that the rig already has the matching base-side component.

This layout is useful with several steering wheels. Each wheel can have its own Wheel Side, while a single Base Side remains on the wheelbase. The adapter no longer has to be unbolted and moved whenever the driving discipline changes.

Six-hole 70 mm mounting pattern

The steering-wheel face uses six holes arranged on a 70 mm pitch circle. This is a common pattern on sim racing rims and button modules. Compatibility must still be checked against the complete 6 x 70 mm layout rather than the pitch-circle diameter alone.

A wheel with a 50.8 mm pattern or another hole layout requires the correct adapter. Also check the screw length and thread depth in the steering wheel before installation. VNM does not publish one screw specification that covers every compatible rim.

CNC aluminium with a black anodised finish

The adapter is CNC-machined from aluminium and finished with black anodising. Accurate engagement between both parts of the quick release is intended to limit movement between the wheel and wheelbase, preventing a loose joint from masking Force Feedback detail.

Check every fastener after the initial installation with the wheelbase switched off. The wheel should seat evenly, and the locking mechanism must be fully engaged before Force Feedback is enabled.

Tool-free steering-wheel changes

The Quick Release mechanism lets the complete steering wheel detach from its matching base-side component without undoing bolts. Tools are required for the initial attachment of the Wheel Side to the rim, but not for later wheel changes.
