The Qubic System QS-220 is a modular motion system based on industrial-grade linear actuators with 100mm of travel. The product page combines the INTRO SET 2DOF starter package, the UPGRADE SET, the complete EXTENDED SET 3DOF and the standalone QS-MC6 motion controller. In a 3DOF configuration, the system can deliver up to 800 mm/s velocity, up to 0.8G acceleration and support up to 350 kg of moving load, depending on the selected operating mode.

Modular upgrade path from 2DOF to 3DOF

INTRO SET starts with two actuators positioned at the front or rear of the cockpit. This layout reproduces roll and pitch movement, while 100 mm of actuator travel provides a clear motion range.

When a full 3DOF layout is required, an UPGRADE SET can be added to the starter package. Four actuators and two power cabinets then form the EXTENDED configuration, while one QS-MC6 continues to connect the whole system to the PC.

Motion, vibration and fast telemetry response

The actuators operate at a control frequency of up to 1000 Hz, generate vibrations across a 0–100 Hz range and respond with less than 8 ms latency. The system can therefore reproduce not only cockpit movement but also short road-surface, engine and kerb effects.

In a 3DOF configuration, users select an operating mode to match the moving load. Q-Mode prioritises velocity and acceleration, Performance balances dynamics and capacity, while Heavy Duty supports the highest moving mass.

Qubic Manager, game profiles and VR support

QS-MC6 connects the system to a PC over USB, while Qubic Manager handles configuration. The application includes profiles for supported games and lets users change the intensity of individual effects without rebuilding the hardware.

VR HeadWay motion compensation is available for virtual-reality headsets. Its role is to limit the effect of physical cockpit movement on headset tracking, keeping platform movement and the VR scene aligned.

Installation, power and rig safety

QS-220 requires a rigid cockpit with mounting points capable of handling dynamic forces. QS-Pivot is not included, so its use or another correctly engineered support solution must be considered when planning a 2DOF configuration.

The system requires single-phase power with neutral, protective earth and suitable residual-current protection. Before each session, check the motion envelope, MOTION-LOCK connections and every mechanical attachment.

Important: a single 2DOF set operates in Heavy Duty mode only. Q-Mode requires a 230 V supply and is unavailable when QS-220 is paired with QS-CH2. Maximum payload includes the moving cockpit, user and all equipment.

1. What is the Qubic System QS-220?

It is a modular package of industrial-grade linear actuators, power cabinets and an optional motion controller. It adds vertical cockpit movement and telemetry-based effects to a simulator.

2. What is the difference between INTRO SET, UPGRADE SET and EXTENDED SET?

INTRO SET is a complete 2DOF configuration with two actuators and QS-MC6. UPGRADE SET adds two actuators and a second power cabinet to an existing INTRO SET. EXTENDED SET contains four actuators, two cabinets and QS-MC6 for a complete 3DOF system.

3. Can the UPGRADE SET operate on its own?

Not as a complete PC-controlled system. It is intended to expand an existing INTRO SET and does not include another QS-MC6 controller.

4. What are the actuator travel and maximum velocity?

Travel is 100 mm. In a 3DOF configuration, maximum velocity depends on the selected mode: up to 800 mm/s in Q-Mode, 400 mm/s in Performance and 300 mm/s in Heavy Duty.

5. What payload can QS-220 support?

For a 3DOF configuration, the manufacturer specifies up to 200 kg in Q-Mode, 250 kg in Performance and 350 kg in Heavy Duty. This value includes the entire moving mass, not only the user.

6. Can the 2DOF set be upgraded later?

Yes. An UPGRADE SET can be added to the INTRO SET. The power cabinets connect directly to each other, so a second USB connection to the PC is not required.

7. Is QS-Pivot included?

No. INTRO, UPGRADE and EXTENDED variants are supplied without QS-Pivot. It is a separate accessory required for a 2DOF layout when the cockpit design uses one pivot point opposite the actuators.

8. Which software controls the system?

Qubic Manager is the primary application and includes profiles for supported games. The manufacturer provides the licence free of charge and also offers SDK tools for integration projects.

9. Does QS-220 support VR?

Yes. Qubic Manager supports VR HeadWay, a function designed to compensate for physical platform movement in virtual reality.

10. Can the system be fitted to any cockpit?

Universal fit should not be assumed. The cockpit, mounting points and floor must withstand the system's mass and dynamic forces. Verify the structure and use suitable brackets before installation.
