Sabelt X99-E - A raised road-car seating layout

Sabelt X99-E - A raised road-car seating layout

Sabelt X99-E occupies a different place in the range from a conventional GT cockpit or a low Formula rig. Additional profiles beneath the seat raise the driver relative to the main frame. The result feels closer to sitting in a road-going performance car, with the hips positioned higher than they would be in a single-seater setup.

This arrangement suits circuit racing, open-world driving and road-car simulators. Despite the elevated seat, the X99-E remains a full-sized aluminium-profile cockpit. It is designed as a permanent foundation for a sim racing setup rather than a foldable stand placed in front of a television.

Lite Wheel Deck for the wheelbase

Lite Wheel Deck for the wheelbase

The supplied Lite Wheel Deck sits between the X99 V2 uprights. Its single-piece construction includes bent side walls with elongated mounting slots. These slots provide room to position the deck around the driver rather than forcing the seat to compensate for an incorrectly placed wheel.

A compatible wheelbase bolts to the central plate from underneath. Buyers should compare the wheelbase mounting pattern with the holes in the deck before ordering. A dedicated front-mount bracket is not part of the X99-E package and may be required for hardware that cannot be bottom-mounted.

One platform for the complete pedal set

Lite Pedal Mount provides a broad surface for the throttle, brake and clutch. Long channels run across the plate alongside several groups of smaller holes. This layout gives compatible pedal sets more positioning options than a plate drilled for one fixed mounting pattern.

Vertical slots in the folded sides connect the platform to the cockpit. It is worth carrying out an initial fit with the seat and pedals only lightly tightened. Once the legs remain slightly bent at full brake travel, the hardware can be secured. Large pedal bases and unusual hydraulic sets should be checked individually before installation.

X99 V2 construction with the essential mounts included

At the centre of Sabelt X99-E is the Italian-made X99 V2 frame. It uses 160 × 40 mm base profiles, 120 × 40 mm uprights and 80 × 40 mm sections beneath the seat. The aluminium profiles receive Sabelt's Zero-X anodising and a matt Black Moon sandblasted finish. Structural side and rear plates are made from 10 mm aluminium.

The package consists of the X99 V2 cockpit, Lite Wheel Deck and Lite Pedal Mount. It does not include a seat, seat brackets, sliders, wheelbase, steering wheel or pedals. Those parts can therefore be selected around the driver's build, preferred seating angle and chosen control hardware.

Sabelt X99-E - questions and answers

1. What is Sabelt X99-E?

It is a cockpit package built around the Sabelt X99 V2 frame. The package also contains a Lite Wheel Deck for the wheelbase and a Lite Pedal Mount for the pedal set.

2. How does X99-E differ from the standard X99 V2?

The Sabelt X99 V2 is the underlying cockpit frame. X99-E adds both Lite mounting plates, saving the buyer from ordering the wheelbase deck and pedal platform separately.

3. What kind of seating position does X99-E provide?

The seat is raised by 80 × 40 mm profiles located beneath it. This creates a road-car-inspired position rather than the low, reclined posture associated with a Formula cockpit.

4. Is a racing seat included?

No. The seat, side brackets and seat sliders are sold separately. This allows the seating system to be selected around the driver's size and preferred backrest angle.

5. Does the package include a wheelbase or pedals?

No. The package supplies the cockpit and mounting plates. The Direct Drive wheelbase, steering wheel, pedals and their electronics must be added separately.

6. Will every wheelbase fit the Lite Wheel Deck?

Compatibility should be checked rather than assumed. Compare the threaded mounting points beneath the wheelbase with the holes in the Sabelt Lite Wheel Deck before ordering.

7. Is a Direct Drive front mount supplied?

No. X99-E comes with a conventional deck for bottom-mounted wheelbases. Hardware designed solely for front mounting may require a different Sabelt bracket.

8. How can I check pedal compatibility?

Measure the pedal-base width and compare its bolt pattern with the slots and holes in the Lite Pedal Mount. Large housings should also be checked for clearance around the folded side walls.

9. Can the wheel and pedal positions be adjusted?

Yes, within the range provided by the mounting slots and the attachment points on the cockpit. Carrying out an initial loose fit makes it easier to settle on a comfortable position before tightening every connection.

10. Who should choose X99-E over S99-E or P99-E?

X99-E is the natural choice for drivers who prefer a raised, road-car-like posture. S99-E targets a more conventional GT arrangement, while P99-E is intended for a low Formula seating position.
