The Fanatec ClubSport Shifter SQ V1.5 is a full-metal sim-racing shifter combining a seven-speed H-pattern with reverse and a sequential mode. A slider on the underside changes mode without unplugging or rebooting the device, removing the knob or using tools. Adjustable shift resistance, a 7th-and-reverse lockout, two aluminium knobs and mounting points on all four sides and the bottom make it easy to adapt the shifter to a cockpit.

Two shifting modes in one housing

In H-pattern mode, the shifter provides seven forward gears and reverse. The gate follows the layout of a conventional manual transmission, making it suitable for simulations of road, historic and racing cars that use a traditional gear lever.

Sequential mode handles upshifts and downshifts, with the lever returning to neutral after every movement. Fanatec specifies strong haptic feedback from the mechanism. Switching between H-pattern and SEQ is performed with the slider underneath the housing, without disconnecting cables or restarting the hardware.

7th-and-reverse lockout with adjustable resistance

To engage 7th gear or reverse, the driver must press the lever down while moving it into the corresponding position. This mechanical lockout reduces the risk of accidentally selecting the outer gate during a fast gear change.

Shift feel and resistance can be adjusted through the adjustment opening with a 5 mm Allen key. The key is not included. This makes it possible to tune the force required to move the lever to the driver's preference, mounting arrangement and the character of the simulated car.

Full-metal construction and two interchangeable knobs

The housing and internal components are made of metal. The rigid construction is designed for repeatable operation under decisive lever movements, while the substantial form helps reproduce the feel of a mechanical automotive selector.

Two knobs made from solid polished aluminium with a titanium-grey anodised finish are supplied: a round H-pattern knob and an elongated sequential knob. They screw onto the threaded shaft. The mount follows popular automotive standards, so a suitably compatible aftermarket knob can also be used.

Flexible connection and cockpit mounting

The shifter can connect directly to the Shifter 1 port of a compatible Fanatec wheel base with the RJ12 cable, or to a compatible legacy PS/2 port with the supplied adapter cable. On PC it can also operate as a separate device through the included ClubSport USB Adapter, alongside a steering wheel from another brand when supported by the game.

The housing provides mounting points on all four sides and on the bottom. Side mounting uses the supplied M5 T-nuts; M5 bolts and a 2 mm Allen key must be provided separately. Bottom mounting requires four M6 bolts, which are also not supplied. Fanatec provides a separate drilling template.

1. Which operating modes does the Fanatec ClubSport Shifter SQ V1.5 provide?

It can operate as a seven-speed H-pattern gearbox with reverse or as a two-way sequential shifter.

2. How do I switch between H-pattern and sequential mode?

Use the 8 / SEQ slider underneath the housing. There is no need to unplug or reboot the shifter, remove the knob or use tools.

3. How many gears does the H-pattern provide?

It provides seven forward gears and reverse. Detection of 7th gear depends on the connection method specified by Fanatec.

4. How does the 7th-and-reverse lockout work?

Press the shaft down before moving the lever into position 7 or R. This makes it harder to select the outer gate by accident.

5. Is shift resistance adjustable?

Yes. Resistance is adjusted through the opening in the housing with a 5 mm Allen key. The key is not included.

6. Can the shifter operate as a standalone PC device?

Yes. The included ClubSport USB Adapter connects it directly to a PC. If it is not recognised correctly, set the adapter mode to ClubSport Shifter in the Fanatec App.

7. Can it be used with a Logitech or Thrustmaster steering wheel?

On PC, it can operate through the included USB adapter alongside a steering wheel from any brand, including compatible Logitech or Thrustmaster models. The game must support the shifter as a separate input device.

8. Does the shifter work on consoles?

Yes, only when connected through a compatible Fanatec wheel base or racing wheel and used in a game that supports a shifter. Direct console connection through the ClubSport USB Adapter is not supported.

9. How can the shifter be mounted?

It can be mounted on any of its four sides with the supplied M5 T-nuts or from the bottom with four M6 bolts. Mounting bolts and Allen keys are not included.

10. What is supplied in the box?

The ClubSport Shifter SQ V1.5, aluminium H-pattern knob, aluminium sequential knob, ClubSport USB Adapter, RJ12 cable, RJ12-to-PS/2 cable and M5 T-nuts.
