Fanatec

These wheel bases transfer motor force straight to the steering shaft. With no belts or gears between the motor and wheel, there is less mechanical play and Force Feedback can respond more directly to the simulation. The driver can feel grip changes, kerbs, bumps and front-axle load when the selected game correctly supports the hardware and available effects.

The range covers several levels of torque and platform support. CSL DD is a compact base offered with 5 or 8 Nm. Gran Turismo DD Pro provides 8 Nm and official PlayStation compatibility. ClubSport DD and ClubSport DD+ deliver 15 and 18 Nm of holding torque with current firmware, while Podium DD reaches 25 Nm of holding torque and up to 33 Nm of short peak overshoot.

Direct Drive and FullForce

In a Direct Drive system, the steering wheel connects directly to the motor shaft. Force Feedback does not need to pass through additional drive components. The available wheel bases also use contactless position sensing and provide adjustable settings for force, damping and steering rotation.

FullForce can add higher-frequency signals to the main Force Feedback output, including information about surface texture and vehicle behaviour. It requires a suitable firmware version and direct implementation by the game. A FullForce-compatible wheel base does not guarantee that every simulator will reproduce all supported effects.

CSL DD with 5 or 8 Nm

The Fanatec CSL DD is the smallest wheel base in this group. The 5 Nm variant uses the standard power supply, while the 8 Nm version includes the Boost Kit 180. A 5 Nm base can later be upgraded to 8 Nm with the original higher-output power supply.

CSL DD has a preinstalled QR2 Lite Base-Side Type-C, passive cooling and mounting rails on the bottom and sides of the housing. It supports PC, while an Xbox-licensed Fanatec steering wheel can enable Xbox compatibility. This model does not support PlayStation.

Gran Turismo DD Pro 8 Nm for PlayStation

The Gran Turismo DD Pro Wheel Base 8 Nm is intended for users who want the Fanatec ecosystem on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. The wheel-base package includes Boost Kit 180, so the full 8 Nm is available without buying another power supply.

This product is a standalone wheel base with power supply and QR2 Lite Base-Side, not a complete package with a steering wheel and pedals. The wheel, pedals and mounting solution must be selected separately. Xbox support depends on fitting a steering wheel with licensed Xbox electronics.

ClubSport DD 15 Nm and ClubSport DD+ 18 Nm

The ClubSport DD 15 Nm provides more holding torque and dynamic range than CSL DD. It is designed for PC and can work with Xbox when an appropriately licensed steering wheel is fitted. It does not support PlayStation consoles.

The ClubSport DD+ 18 Nm uses a similar design but adds higher holding torque and an official PlayStation licence. It supports PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. Xbox support is available through a compatible Xbox-licensed Fanatec steering wheel.

Both models include a metal QR2 Base-Side Type-F and use passive cooling. The 15 Nm rating for ClubSport DD and 18 Nm rating for ClubSport DD+ require firmware V1.4.2.3 or newer. A steering wheel, pedals and mounting clamp are not included with the standalone wheel bases.

Podium DD 25 Nm

The Fanatec Podium DD 25 Nm is the most powerful wheel base in the current range. It provides 25 Nm of holding torque and can briefly reach up to 33 Nm. This level of force requires a rigid cockpit, secure mounting and sensible Force Feedback limits.

Podium DD has a metal QR2 Base-Side Type-F, a full-metal housing and an included 10 cm shaft extension. The base supports PC, while Xbox compatibility depends on a licensed steering wheel. It does not support PlayStation.

PC, PlayStation and Xbox support

All listed wheel bases can work with a Windows PC when paired with a suitable steering wheel and supported game. Gran Turismo DD Pro and ClubSport DD+ carry the PlayStation licence in the wheel base and support PS5 and PS4.

For Xbox, the required compatibility electronics are located in the licensed steering wheel. A suitable wheel can therefore enable Xbox support on a compatible Fanatec base, although the selected game must also support the hardware.

QR2 and ecosystem expansion

Current models use QR2 on the wheel-base side. CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro include QR2 Lite Base-Side Type-C, while ClubSport DD, ClubSport DD+ and Podium DD use the metal QR2 Base-Side Type-F. The selected steering wheel needs a matching QR2 Wheel-Side component.

Compatible Fanatec pedals, a shifter and a handbrake can connect to the wheel base. Some older peripherals may require an adapter, so the exact model and quick-release standard should be checked before ordering.

Which Fanatec wheel base should you choose?

CSL DD 5 Nm is a practical starting point, while the 8 Nm version offers more force without changing the wheel-base housing. Gran Turismo DD Pro 8 Nm is the better fit when official PlayStation support is required at a moderate torque level.

ClubSport DD 15 Nm suits a more powerful PC or Xbox setup, while ClubSport DD+ 18 Nm adds PlayStation support. Podium DD 25 Nm is intended for rigid cockpits and users who deliberately need a very wide Force Feedback range.

Before ordering, check the cockpit mounting method, the chosen QR2 Wheel-Side and the target platform. Current technology and compatibility information is available on the official Fanatec website.
