Simgasm Hobby Black - A compact aluminium-profile cockpit

SIMGASM Hobby Black is the entry point to the brand's modular cockpit range. Its frame uses 40 × 40 mm aluminium profiles and occupies a 580 × 1300 mm footprint once assembled. It is intended for drivers who want to leave a desk or folding wheel stand behind without moving straight to a larger chassis built from deeper profiles.

A permanent frame keeps the wheel, pedals and seat in a repeatable position between sessions. The profile slots also leave room for practical adjustment as the setup changes. Alternative frame sizes and layouts can be compared in the sim racing cockpits category.

Black frame with minimalistic design

SIMGASM Hobby Black is supplied with one of four wheelbase supports: Bottom Mount, Front Mount, Side Mount or Asetek Front Mount. Bottom mounting uses the threads beneath the device. The front and side systems hold compatible units through purpose-made housing points, keeping the area below the steering shaft clearer.

The exact model matters more than the badge on its casing. Bottom Mount covers the broadest group of confirmed bases. Front Mount supports selected Fanatec, Simucube and VRS units but no SIMAGIC model. Side Mount covers listed Fanatec, MOZA, SIMAGIC and Conspit hardware, while the dedicated Asetek version fits La Prima, Forte and Invicta wheelbases.

Adjustable geometry and a 150 kg pedal-deck rating

Slots in the profiles provide room to change control depth, height and angle. The rig can be built around an upright GT position or moved towards a lower Formula-style arrangement. The usable adjustment range also depends on the seat, side brackets and slider, so these parts should be planned together rather than selected in isolation.

The pedal deck carries a stated braking-load rating of up to 150 kg, giving it useful headroom for many load-cell sets when the bolt pattern matches. A slider also makes sense when more than one driver uses the rig. Suitable seating can be compared in the sim racing seats category.

Adjustable GT and Formula-style geometry

The box contains black aluminium profiles, structural brackets, the selected wheelbase mount, Core side arm, hardware, tools, instructions and white assembly gloves. The Core arm provides a place for a compatible shifter or handbrake. No additional livery or sticker set is supplied with this black version.

The seat, slider, wheelbase, steering wheel, pedals, shifter, handbrake, monitor and display stand are separate purchases. The frame can later be developed with parts from sim rig accessories and a suitable solution from TV and monitor stands.

SIMGASM Hobby Black - questions and answers

1. What is SIMGASM Hobby Black?

It is a modular sim racing cockpit built from 40 × 40 mm aluminium profiles. The configuration covered here combines a black frame with JPS livery and lets the buyer select one of four wheelbase mounting systems.

2. Which wheelbase mount variants are available?

The choices are Bottom Mount, regular Front Mount, Side Mount and Asetek Front Mount. Only the wheelbase support changes between variants; the black Hobby chassis and supplied JPS livery remain the same.

3. Which mount should I choose for a MOZA or SIMAGIC base?

Supported MOZA and SIMAGIC units may use Bottom Mount or Side Mount hardware, depending on the exact model and its threaded points. The regular Front Mount is not compatible with SIMAGIC wheelbases, so the mounting pattern should be confirmed before ordering.

4. What is the standard Front Mount designed for?

This option supports matching front patterns on selected Fanatec, Simucube and VRS wheelbases. Compatibility still needs to be checked at model level because mounting layouts can differ within one manufacturer's range.

5. Is Asetek Front Mount a universal bracket?

No. It is the dedicated choice for supported Asetek wheelbases, including La Prima, Forte and Invicta models listed by the cockpit manufacturer. Hardware from other brands requires the appropriate Bottom, Front or Side Mount variant.

6. What does JPS livery add to this version?

The JPS package adds gold visual detailing to the black frame. It does not change the cockpit dimensions, profile size or pedal-deck rating. The livery is included with every wheel-mount variant on this product page.

7. How much floor space does the Hobby cockpit need?

The assembled frame measures 580 × 1300 × 725 mm and weighs 20.5 kg. Extra clearance is needed for the seat, access to the driving position and any free-standing monitor structure placed around the rig.

8. What braking load is the pedal deck rated for?

The stated rating is up to 150 kg at the pedal deck. The hole pattern of the chosen pedal set must also be checked. Larger alternatives can be reviewed in the sim racing cockpits category when additional structural reserve is required.

9. Are the seat and racing controls included?

No. The box contains the chassis, structural brackets, selected wheelbase mount, JPS livery, Core side arm, hardware, tools, instructions and assembly gloves. The seat, slider, wheelbase, wheel, pedals, shifter, handbrake, monitor and monitor stand are separate purchases.

10. Does the cockpit itself determine PC or console compatibility?

No. The chassis is a mechanical platform. PC, Xbox or PlayStation support comes from the wheelbase, steering wheel, pedals and software. The cockpit only needs the correct mounting variant for the selected wheelbase.
