Powerful tactile feedback for a seat or cockpit

Xcite XBS100-4 converts an amplified audio signal into mechanical movement transferred to a seat, platform or cockpit structure. In sim racing, it makes engine speed, gear shifts, kerbs, surface texture, wheel slip and ABS physically perceptible without increasing speaker volume.

The ±12 mm excursion, 324 N peak force and 215 N average force provide clear feedback through heavier rig components. This model suits installations where one transducer needs to move a seat, solid platform or larger part of an aluminium-profile cockpit.

SpiderCore, a large voice coil and response from 11 Hz

SpiderCore, a large voice coil and response from 11 Hz

The SpiderCore architecture integrates the suspension into the motor core. A neodymium motor, four-layer 114 mm voice coil and double steel suspension provide fast, controlled movement despite the considerable moving mass.

The 11 Hz - 1 kHz range covers very deep impacts and shorter details. A 22.1 Hz resonant frequency supports low-frequency effects, while force sensitivity of 8.2 N/W helps produce a clear response at lower signal levels. The aluminium enclosure assists with heat dissipation.

Rigid mounting and a 48.5 mm high enclosure

The XBS100-4 has a 156 mm outer diameter, 48.5 mm height and 1570 g total weight. Its official datasheet states a 142.2 mm mounting diameter. Attach the transducer to a rigid plate, bracket or profile because flexible mounts and soft upholstery absorb energy and reduce effect definition.

Transfer the hole positions from the technical drawing or delivered unit before drilling. Allow access to the terminals and choose screws suitable for the bracket thickness. The IP66 rating applies to the transducer itself, not to the wiring, amplifier or other system components.

A passive 4-ohm transducer in a SimHub system

The XBS100-4 has no internal power supply, USB connection, sound card or telemetry controller. It requires an external amplifier stable with a 4-ohm load, speaker cable and an audio source. The amplifier and cables are not included.

In a sim-racing system, SimHub generates effects from telemetry, the sound card passes the signal to the amplifier and the amplifier drives the bass shaker. Begin with a low output level, enable effects one at a time and raise intensity gradually while monitoring temperature and distortion.

Xcite XBS100-4 - questions and answers

1. What is the Xcite XBS100-4?

It is a passive 4-ohm bass shaker that converts an amplifier signal into vibration in a seat, platform or another rigid structure.

2. Is the XBS100-4 rated at 100 W or 500 W?

The figures describe different IEC 60268-5 tests. Xcite specifies 100 W for the Rms Noise Test and 500 W as Long-term Max Power. The 500 W value must not be described as 500 W RMS.

3. Does the XBS100-4 require an amplifier?

Yes. This is a passive transducer and requires an external amplifier compatible with a 4-ohm load. An amplifier is not included in this offer.

4. Does the bass shaker connect directly to a computer?

No. The XBS100-4 has no USB connection or internal sound card. The computer passes its signal to an external amplifier through a suitable audio output or interface.

5. Does the XBS100-4 work with SimHub?

Yes, as part of an audio chain. SimHub generates effects from telemetry, while a sound card and amplifier deliver the signal to the bass shaker.

6. Where can the XBS100-4 be mounted?

Typical locations include a seat bracket, rigid platform, cockpit plate or another component intended to vibrate. The connection must be secure and stiff.

7. What are the dimensions of the XBS100-4?

The enclosure is 156 mm in diameter and 48.5 mm high. Total weight is 1570 g, so the supporting bracket should be suitably rigid.

8. What is the mounting diameter?

The official datasheet states a 142.2 mm mounting diameter. Transfer the actual hole positions from the technical drawing or delivered unit before drilling.

9. What does the IP66 rating mean?

IP66 applies to the transducer itself. It does not make the amplifier, cables, terminals or other system components resistant to dust or water.

10. What is included?

The offer covers one Xcite XBS100-4. Amplifier, sound card, cables and mounting parts are not included unless the sales page explicitly states otherwise.
