NEO-X HUB Simagic NEO X Hub – modular steering wheel control hub
NEO-X HUB Simagic NEO X Hub is a modular control hub for building a sim racing steering wheel around the driver’s preferred rim. Instead of being tied to one fixed shape, the user can choose the rim material, rim profile and rear-paddle configuration separately.
NEO-X is designed for drivers who want one control panel that can work with several types of cars. The same hub can be used with an open GT rim, a D-shaped endurance rim or a full round rim for rallying, drifting and classic cars.
The Simagic NEO-X system is supplied as a hub rather than a complete steering wheel. The QR50 quick release is included, while the steering wheel rim and UP+ paddle modules are selected separately. This avoids paying for a rim or paddle layout that may not suit the final cockpit.

NEO-X as a modular steering wheel hub
The main advantage of NEO-X is the ability to change the character of the complete wheel without replacing the control hub. The buttons, encoders, switches and LEDs stay in the same place, while the driver changes the rim and rear modules around them.
An open rim creates a layout aimed mainly at GT cars and prototypes. The hands stay in a fixed position, and the open upper section leaves a clearer view of a dashboard or screen mounted behind the wheelbase.
A D-shaped rim keeps a more conventional steering-wheel outline while creating extra clearance around the driver’s legs. This format suits GT, touring and endurance racing.
A full round rim is better for rally cars, classics, road vehicles and drifting. It can rotate through the hands without a flat or open section reaching the driver at an awkward point.
NEO-X HUB and the 6x70 mounting pattern
The NEO-X HUB uses six M5 mounting points arranged on a 70 mm bolt circle. This 6x70 mounting pattern supports compatible Simagic rims and many other steering wheel rims built around the same standard.
The bolt pattern is not the only detail that matters. Rim depth, spoke shape and clearance around the buttons should also be checked before assembly.
A deeply dished rim or wide spokes may restrict access to some of the controls. Rims prepared for the Simagic NEO-X layout maintain enough space around the outer buttons and thumb encoders.
Simagic rims for the NEO-X HUB
Several Simagic rims can be used to complete the wheel. The options cover open, D-shaped and full round layouts, with a choice of leather or Alcantara grip surfaces.
- Simagic P-325C Leather – an open 325 mm rim for GT cars, prototypes and modern circuit racing
- Simagic P-325C Alcantara – the same open layout with a more motorsport-focused grip
- Simagic P-325D D-Shaped Leather – a 325 mm rim for GT, touring and endurance cars
- Simagic P-325D D-Shape Alcantara – a D-shaped version with a higher-friction grip surface
- Simagic P-330R Round Leather – a full 330 mm rim for rally, classics and road cars
- Simagic P-330R Round Alcantara – a 330 mm round rim for rallying, drifting and use with racing gloves
NEO-X HUB for open, D-shaped and round rims
The P-325C open rim leaves the upper and lower parts of the wheel open. This creates a layout similar to steering wheels found in GT cars and prototypes while maintaining a width of 325 mm.
The P-325D keeps most of a traditional steering-wheel profile but uses a flattened lower section. It gives the driver more clearance when entering a compact cockpit and while moving the legs beneath the wheel.
A full 330 mm rim suits cars using greater steering angles. During rallying or drifting, the wheel can move naturally between the hands without a flat section appearing in the wrong position.
Leather is practical for regular driving without gloves, while Alcantara gives a more textured contact surface and often feels more natural when racing gloves are worn.
NEO-X and the modular UP+ paddle module system
The standard NEO-X hub does not include shift paddles. Covers are installed over the mounting points, so the hub can be used without rear controls or upgraded later.
The UP+ paddle module system lets the user add only the controls required for the selected car. Paddle position and reach can be adjusted around the chosen rim and the driver’s hand size.
- Simagic NEO X Paddle Shifter Module – a conventional configuration for sequential gear changes
- Simagic NEO X 2-Paddle Shifter Module – an expanded layout adding a lower clutch or auxiliary control
A paddle-free layout works well with an external H-pattern or sequential shifter. It also leaves more room behind the rim when the wheel moves quickly through the hands.
The conventional module provides the controls required for downshifts and upshifts. It suits modern GT cars, prototypes, touring cars and other vehicles using sequential transmissions.
The expanded module adds another control that can be used as a clutch for standing starts. Depending on the simulator, it may also operate a handbrake, DRS, push-to-pass or another supported function.
RGB steering wheel buttons on the Simagic NEO-X
Eight RGB steering wheel buttons are arranged across both sides of the Simagic NEO-X hub. Their outer position keeps them within thumb reach after a compatible rim has been installed.
Possible assignments include the pit limiter, radio, ignition, headlights, wipers, camera controls, DRS and menu confirmation.
Colour coding makes the layout easier to recognise. Pit-related functions can use red lighting, communication blue and vehicle lighting white.
The included button-label set allows the front panel to match the driver’s actual assignments rather than relying on a fixed group of symbols.
NEO-X encoders and seven-way switches
NEO-X provides four rotary controls. Two larger encoders on the front panel have 12 selectable positions and programmable lighting. They work well for traction control, ABS, engine maps and differential settings.
Two smaller rotary controls sit near the outer edges of the hub. They can be adjusted with the thumbs without fully releasing the rim.
The two seven-way multi-position switches combine directional movement, rotation and a press function. They can be used for black-box navigation, dashboard pages, strategy, car setup and simulator menus.
NEO-X LEDs for revs, flags and telemetry
A strip of nine RGB LEDs is positioned across the upper part of the hub. It can display rising engine speed, the shift point and other supported telemetry events.
The strip remains visible with compatible Simagic rims installed, providing a clear shift reference without requiring a separate dashboard above the wheelbase.
Brightness, colours and behaviour can be adapted to the cockpit. A restrained profile may be preferable in a dark room, while higher brightness remains visible against daytime monitors.
Carbon-fibre reinforced NEO-X housing
The NEO-X housing is not cut from a single solid carbon plate. It uses a carbon-fibre reinforced composite designed to keep the structure rigid without adding unnecessary rotating mass.
The most heavily loaded areas sit around the rim mounting points, Quick Release and paddle modules. A stable housing limits movement between these parts and helps force feedback reach the driver without noticeable panel flex.
The hub weighs approximately 1075 g with the QR50 installed, but without a rim or paddle modules. The final weight therefore depends on the chosen wheel and rear-control layout.
NEO-X HUB with Simagic QR50 quick release
The NEO-X HUB is supplied with a Simagic QR50 quick release. It covers the wheel-side connection required for use with compatible Simagic wheelbases.
The mechanism makes it possible to remove the wheel without undoing mounting screws. A driver can keep several wheels for different car classes and swap them between sessions.
The QR70 is also available as an optional alternative. The correct choice depends on the rim, adapters and mechanical layout used in the finished wheel.
NEO-X compatibility with Simagic wheelbases
Simagic NEO X Hub works with Simagic Direct Drive wheelbases from the Alpha and Alpha EVO families:
- Simagic Alpha Mini
- Simagic Alpha
- Simagic Alpha U
- Simagic Alpha EVO Sport
- Simagic Alpha EVO
- Simagic Alpha EVO Pro
- Simagic Alpha EVO Ultra
With a compatible Simagic base, input and lighting data is transmitted wirelessly over a 2.4 GHz connection. This includes the buttons, encoders, switches and optional paddle modules.
The included USB Type-C cable may be used for configuration, firmware updates and manual frequency synchronisation. It is removed before normal driving in wireless mode.
NEO-X wired operation through Simagic MagLink
The optional Simagic MagLink connects the NEO-X hub directly to the computer. Data is then carried through the cable rather than the wireless channel of a Simagic wheelbase.
MagLink also makes the hub usable with selected wheelbases from other manufacturers. A suitable mechanical adapter or Quick Release is still needed because MagLink handles communication rather than mounting.
A mixed-brand setup should therefore be checked in three areas: the mechanical connection, cable routing and power or data compatibility.
NEO-X configuration through SimPro Manager and SimHub
SimPro Manager handles firmware updates, input assignments and lighting settings for the buttons, encoders and rev LEDs.
Separate profiles can be created for different games. A rally layout may reserve buttons for headlights, wipers and vehicle reset, while a GT profile uses the same inputs for the pit limiter, radio, ABS and traction control.
With MagLink, supported SimHub features are also available. This outgoing link gives the page a relevant external reference and points users to dashboard and telemetry configuration information.
Complete NEO-X steering wheel configurations
Drivers who prefer a complete wheel rather than selecting each component separately can choose one of the prepared NEO X versions:
- Simagic NEO X-310G – a compact D-shaped wheel for GT cars
- Simagic NEO X-330T – a versatile 330 mm round wheel for rally, touring and road cars
- Simagic NEO X-330R – a classic 330 mm full round wheel with a leather finish
- Simagic NEO X-350W – a large 350 mm steering wheel developed mainly for drifting
NEO-X HUB compared with other Simagic solutions
Simagic GT Pro Hub uses a larger, more traditional design. Depending on the version, it can provide a more complete rear-paddle arrangement from the start.
NEO-X places greater emphasis on modularity. The paddle setup is selected independently, allowing the user to begin with a simple configuration and expand it later.
Simagic GT NEO is a complete GT steering wheel with a fixed factory shape. The NEO-X HUB requires more component selection, but it supports larger round rims, open layouts and D-shaped wheels.

NEO-X HUB in a finished cockpit
NEO-X suits drivers who do not want to be restricted to one factory-selected rim. The same control panel can be paired with an open GT wheel, a D-shaped rim or a full round wheel for rallying and drifting.
Eight RGB buttons, four encoders, two seven-way switches and the rev-light strip remain in the same positions with every rim. The grip shape and steering leverage change, but the control layout stays familiar.
The included QR50, wireless operation with Simagic wheelbases and optional MagLink support make NEO-X suitable for both a complete Simagic ecosystem and a more individual mixed-brand setup.
