VNM Handbrake V1.5 is built for rally simulation, drifting and other disciplines where the handbrake is used to manage the car's rotation. It does not behave like a basic on-off button. An industrial load cell reads the force applied to the lever, allowing the input to rise progressively with the driver's pull.

This makes it possible to use a fast, decisive action for a tight hairpin or apply a smaller correction when the rear axle needs only a brief adjustment. A load cell handbrake provides more control than a device based on a single activation point. Secure installation on a rigid cockpit is essential to make full use of that range.

Industrial 200 kg load cell and 16-bit processing

The sensing system is based on an industrial load cell rated at 200 kg. Its substantial measuring reserve handles firm pulls without reducing the handbrake to a short stroke or one abrupt threshold. The maximum input is defined during calibration, so the full sensor capacity does not have to be reached every time the lever is used.

An STM32 board with a 16-bit ADC converts the analogue measurement into detailed data for the PC. VNM Handbrake V1.5 can therefore distinguish between a sharp pull and a controlled build-up of pressure. The result depends on the game configuration, but the hardware provides a high-resolution foundation for accurate mapping.

A longer lever with seven angle settings

The V1.5 lever is longer than the one fitted to the original VNM Handbrake V1, and its length can also be adjusted. The extra reach helps place the grip close to the steering wheel and changes the leverage available to the driver. This is useful in a rally cockpit where the hand must move quickly between the rim and handbrake.

Seven lever angles are available: 0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75° and 90°. VNM Handbrake V1.5 can consequently be arranged vertically, at an incline or closer to a horizontal orientation. Interchangeable springs alter the operating resistance, allowing a lighter action or a firmer pull without replacing the entire unit.

Aluminium construction and a tidy rig installation

The chassis is made from aluminium with a black anodised finish. Ball bearings support the mechanism, helping the lever move evenly while limiting unwanted friction. The unit weighs 2.8 kg and measures 39.5 × 19.5 × 18 cm. It is designed for PC and connects through USB.
