What matters besides peak torque?
The torque figure tells you how much force a wheelbase can produce, but it does not tell the whole force-feedback story. The speed at which the torque changes, motor smoothness, control and the ability to preserve short details through a heavily loaded corner all matter as well.
Torque Slew Rate
Torque Slew Rate describes how quickly the torque can change. A high value helps the wheelbase reproduce kerbs, sudden slides and quick countersteering inputs with clarity. All three Simucube 3 models are rated at 9.5 Nm/ms, so Sport can react just as quickly as Pro and Ultimate. The more powerful models, however, retain more headroom when the wheelbase is already producing high torque for a longer period.
Motor and encoder
Sport and Pro use SPM servomotors, while Ultimate features a spoke-type IPM motor. Every model is equipped with a 23-bit absolute encoder. In practice, signal quality depends on how well the motor, sensor and control electronics work together—not simply on the encoder's position count.
Steering wheel and cockpit
A large, heavy wheel has more inertia and reduces the force you feel in your hands. This is why 15 Nm can feel very strong with a lightweight Formula wheel but more relaxed with a substantial GT or rally wheel. A rigid mounting point is just as important: if the cockpit flexes, some of the finer detail disappears into the frame instead of reaching your hands.
