This is a significant change for MOZA. Until now, the brand has mainly focused on PC, while its official console support was limited to Xbox. A good example is the MOZA ESX, an officially licensed Xbox steering wheel that allows compatible MOZA wheel bases to work with Microsoft's consoles.
PlayStation has been a completely different story. For anyone looking for a stronger Direct Drive setup for PS5, Fanatec has been one of the most obvious choices for years. Products such as the Fanatec ClubSport DD+ 18 Nm have offered official PlayStation 5 compatibility and positioned Fanatec strongly in this part of the market. Now MOZA wants a piece of that space too.
The company is starting with three products, and one of the biggest announcements is native Gran Turismo 7 support. For PS5 racing fans, this could easily become one of the more interesting hardware launches in the sim racing segment.
Until now, MOZA hardware has mainly been associated with PC sim racing. Over the years, the company has built a large ecosystem of Direct Drive wheel bases, steering wheels, pedals, shifters and other accessories. Console players, however, had far fewer options.
Xbox received official support through products such as the licensed ESX wheel and the R3 Xbox/PC bundle. PlayStation remained outside MOZA's official ecosystem. That is finally about to change.
MOZA has prepared three Direct Drive products under the official PlayStation licensing program. This means the company is not relying on unofficial adapters or workarounds to make its hardware function on PS5.
The new lineup will include the MOZA R5S Pro Racing Simulator, MOZA R16S Ultra Racing Simulator and MOZA R16S Ultra Direct Drive Wheel Base.
It is clear that MOZA does not want to test the PlayStation market with just one product. The company is preparing hardware for both newcomers to Direct Drive and considerably more experienced sim racers.
The most accessible complete package in the new lineup will be the MOZA R5S Pro Racing Simulator.
The bundle is expected to include a Direct Drive wheel base, steering wheel and pedals. The idea is simple. You buy one package and get the essential hardware needed to start racing without having to choose every component separately.
Anyone familiar with MOZA will already recognize the R5 name. The company currently sells the MOZA R5 Bundle, which combines a 5.5 Nm Direct Drive wheel base with an ES steering wheel and SR-P Lite pedals. The current R5 is designed for PC, but it gives us a good idea of the market segment MOZA is targeting with the PlayStation-focused R5S Pro.
This should be an interesting option for players moving from a controller or a more basic steering wheel to Direct Drive, without immediately investing in a high-torque base and a heavy sim racing cockpit.
The MOZA R16S Ultra Racing Simulator will sit much higher in the lineup. This is clearly aimed at users who already know what they expect from a powerful Direct Drive wheel base and want stronger, more detailed force feedback.
The new R16S Ultra is expected to bring a similar class of hardware to PlayStation 5. This is where MOZA's move becomes especially interesting, because until now users looking for powerful Direct Drive hardware with official PlayStation compatibility often ended up looking at Fanatec.
The third product will be the MOZA R16S Ultra Direct Drive Wheel Base. In this case, users will get the wheel base on its own, giving them more freedom to build a complete setup around their own preferences.
This could become particularly interesting if MOZA allows users to take advantage of a wider part of its existing ecosystem. The company already offers a large selection of GT, Formula and traditional round steering wheels, so there is plenty of room for expanding a setup over time.
For many PS5 owners, this may be the most important part of the announcement. The new MOZA hardware is expected to receive native support for Gran Turismo 7.
The company has announced cooperation with Polyphony Digital, with the aim of providing proper integration with the game instead of forcing players to rely on external adapters or unofficial solutions.
Gran Turismo 7 support is expected to be available from the launch of the new hardware lineup. That matters because GT7 remains one of the main reasons many players decide to buy a steering wheel for PlayStation 5 in the first place.
Until now, Fanatec has been one of the natural choices for players looking for more powerful Direct Drive hardware with official PlayStation support. MOZA entering this market means more than simply adding another steering wheel to the list. It introduces another major competitor in the more advanced PS5 sim racing segment.
MOZA has also announced support for additional racing games, although the company has not yet published a complete list of compatible titles.
This is still the biggest unknown. MOZA has not yet announced official pricing for the R5S Pro or R16S Ultra. We also do not have a specific retail launch date.
The hardware was shown during Tokyo Game Show 2026, but more detailed information about availability is still to come.
Even so, MOZA's direction is easy to understand. The company spent years building a strong position on PC, later expanded its console presence with Xbox support, and is now taking the missing step into the PlayStation ecosystem.
More importantly, MOZA is not entering the market with a single basic steering wheel. The company is already preparing an entire Direct Drive range, from the more accessible R5S Pro to the considerably more powerful R16S Ultra.
If pricing turns out to be competitive, things could get very interesting. Fanatec is about to face another direct competitor in the advanced PlayStation Direct Drive segment, while PS5 owners and Gran Turismo 7 fans will simply have more hardware to choose from.
